What We Do

We are a general Ophthalmology practice with three doctors, offering comprehensive management of eye conditions including surgery.

We treat many eye conditions including cataract, glaucoma, diabetes, macular and retinal diseases, while also taking the time to listen and explain to our patients about their eye conditions and treatment.

Our doctors perform onsite eye injections for diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration.

Our clinic has onsite laser treatment to manage glaucoma, after cataract and retinal conditions. There is free onsite parking available including dedicated disabled parking and ramp access.

Helen Steiner

Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Cataract Surgeon

Helen was born in Melbourne and completed her medical training at Monash University graduating in 1985. After a short stint studying Obstetrics she started her Ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital graduating in 1994.

Currently Helen works as a Senior Consultant in the Acute Ophthalmology Service and Emergency Department at the Eye and Ear Hospital and plays an active role in training Ophthalmology Registrars. Helen holds surgical appointments at the Waverley Private Hospital and Vermont Private Hospitals.

Areas of interest and Ophthalmology practice include Cataract surgery. Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (i-stent) . Treatment of retinal conditions including macular degeneration ,diabetic eye disease , retinal vein occlusions with eye injections and laser.

Helen's principals of patient care involve taking the time to listen to patients and to understand their eye problems and to explain their diagnosis and treatment in easy to understand language.

Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Cataract Surgeon

Mark was born in Poland and came to Australia as a young child aged 5. He completed his secondary education at McKinnon High School and his medical training at Monash University in 1979. He went on to do specialist training in the Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne finishing in 1986.

Since then he has had positions at St Vincents and Eye and Ear hospitals as well as in private practice at Oakleigh Eye Centre, Private Eye Clinic and Dorset Consulting in Boronia. As a senior medical staff consultant at the Eye and Ear he actively teaches junior doctors.

He is an examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and is active in Continuing Professional Development in the College.

Mark is a comprehensive Ophthalmologist with interests in cataract, glaucoma and medical retina.

Having lived in the area for a major portion of his life he knows the area well and is a supporter of local community groups. He has interests in keeping fit, travelling and gardening. He has a busy family life with his wife, 2 adult children and dog

Medical Retina Subspecialist - Diabetes and Macular Degeneration

Dr Katarina Creese is an internationally trained comprehensive ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon with special interest and training in medical retina.

Dr Creese completed her Doctor of Medicine at Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic). Dr Creese attained the Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (Paris) in 2009. She is fluent in Slovak and Czech.

Dr Creese completed further training in Australia including fellowships in Paediatric Ophthalmology at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and Medical Retina and Ocular Motility/Neuro-ophthalmology at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Dr Creese attained the Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2019.

Dr Creese is a compassionate specialist who cares deeply about access to quality eye healthcare. Dr Creese worked for several years with CBM International as an ophthalmologist in Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda and Rwanda.

In 2022 Dr Creese was temporarily based in the Northern Territory helping to extend eye care services to the population of Alice Springs and remote communities of Central Australia.

Dr Creese is currently a visiting medical officer at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Austin Health.
